•SWITZERLAND TRIP JUNE 2008

•SWITZERLAND TRIP JUNE 2008

June 28th - me and Dean set out to climb to Hagenturm, up on the Randen overlooking the Alps (on a clear day)
So here's a pic of Dean showing off the kind of landscape he regularly cycles though whilst building the miles for his Ironman events.
Next, shows him filling his water bottle in one of the many natural springs that every village seems to have.
I dread to think what kind of bug I might catch if I tried this at the water trough on Blackerhill, maybe the name gives it away!

Then here's me at the top of the tower with Germany in the background, and finally as we descend towards the postcard pretty village of Hemmental, it's OK but not a patch on Wombwell.

•NEW ZEALAND WINNER!

I asked you back in September where this photograph was taken, as it could very easily have been in NZ.
Well after sorting through literally countless entries I can now announce that the winner is a Mr Dave Ixer of Barnsley!!
Well done Dave. He was spot on with his answer of The Cut Gate path, over the Midhope Moors and dropping down into Derwent.
Your choc chip Power bar would have been winging its way to you if not for the fact that it is you in the photograph which exempts you from entering, so I ate the cookie myself!
I notice that Team Grizzly have not been out recently, maybe they would like a few tips on local routes?
Watch this space.

Sunday 23rd March 2008

Sunday 23rd March 2008
not been much to report for a while. Bad weather, lots of rides and getting the miles in on country lanes.
My brother popped over for a week and was ken to try a full susser and since my pics in Switzerland were posted last year thought I should make sure his ride over here was recorded.
So a quagmire of Wortley Woods was followed by a lofty trip along Dean Head and Snowden Hill.
Roll on a drier Spring when we can get back into Dalby.

February 2008 - GREEN MOOR

February 2008 - GREEN MOOR

By no means our first ride this year, been averaging twice a week at times, but this was a pleasant tour around Barnsley.
Depressing though to see the blanket of black smog that hangs over our heads!
Once we reached the top of the ridge we could look over westwards to the moors that lead past Langsett Reservoir and over to the Derwent.
